Born in Mansourah, Egypt, Rachelle Moyal was raised by her parents, Esther Cohen and David Moyal. There was always family time among the six children: Jeanne, Rachelle, Nelly, Mayor (Mario), Alice (Lucette), and Dora. Rachelle shared responsibilities for her younger siblings, reading and spending time with them. She loved spoiling her siblings, even buying Alice (Lucette) a little cat. Their father worked selling electrical items while their mother stayed home to raise the children.

Rachelle had a great appreciation for literature and enjoyed reading historical pieces. Education was a priority in her life. She also carried many dreams. She dreamed of being a teacher. She dreamed of going to the United States. She dreamed of having children to love and raise. She had so many gifts to share through the dreams she made come true.

By the age of 17, Rachelle started working as a secretary at the American Base in Egypt. She met her first husband, an American, in Cairo. Soon, she moved with her husband to France. It was a dream come true when the couple moved to the United States in the 1940's. They grew apart and divorced. Later, she remarried. Rachelle remained committed to furthering her dreams of teaching by earning her degree in secondary education. She truly believed that education was important because you could carry it with you the rest of your life. She dreamed of sharing her knowledge with students and inspiring them to success. When Rachelle's second marriage ended, she met Architect and Artist John Pusey. Together, the couple welcomed two children into their lives: David and Natalie. Rachelle was a wonderful mother and supportive of both of her children. She loved them so much and it marked another dream come true. She cooked incredible meals for the family and was a wonderful mom. Every summer, she and the kids flew to be with her wonderful family in France. David and Natalie spent a month in summer camp and a month visiting family. It was an incredible gift to explore Europe together including France, Israel, Greece and England.

Rachelle worked hard to achieve her dreams in the classroom as well. She was known as Madame Pusey by many of her students while teaching at Fairfax High School and Beverly Hills. When Madame Pusey entered a classroom, her students were captivated by her energetic way of teaching and enjoyed the exposure to French culture and traditions. When they went on field trips, Madame Pusey required the students to only speak in French, expanding their use of the language. She inspired her students. Even after graduation, many of her students stayed in touch with her throughout the years. Rachelle Moyal Pusey spent 26 years teaching and always made the time to give to others without expecting anything in return. Her reward was in knowing she made someone smile.

Rachelle will be remembered for her lovely laughter, sense of humor and compassion. She was politically conscientious and had great hopes for a female President one day. Her gifts were in helping others because she wished for their happiness. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting blankets and sweaters which she would give to family and friends. She also spoiled her grandchildren with hugs, kisses and affection. She loved each one of her grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan and Nicholas. While she believed in and practiced the Jewish religion, she also believed that what you do on earth matters. Rachelle was educated, smart, giving and loving. She was someone who truly made a difference in the world. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Madame Rachelle Moyal Pusey will be remembered by her family, friends and students. For the many gifts she shared in life, everyone is grateful. Memorials in her name may be made to a charity of your choice.
