Jacqueline Sue (Gall) Lienau was born in Wisconsin to her parents Louise and Gus Gall in 1950. Jackie was raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with her siblings: Sharon, Dixie, Janet and Terry. Her father worked in the coalmines of Wisconsin, while her mother worked for her father's company. Jackie had a good childhood when she was young. Sadly, her older sister Janet died unexpectedly at the age of 12 after an accident on the playground at school. Tragically, it deeply affected her mother, but Jackie always had a family presence in her life. In 1964, the family moved to Southern California. Jackie loved to rollerskate and ride her bike as a child, but she was very stubborn at times. Her sister, Sharon, was once riding her bike and Jackie jumped on the back of it. She got her foot stuck in the spokes and they crashed. In Jackie's mind, it was all Sharon's fault. As a teenager, Jackie loved to dance and the "Twist" was one of her favorite dances. She was always dressing up in nice clothes and she liked pretending she was a Queen. Jackie married John Flores in 1966 and her daughter, Dede, was her first born. A year later, the couple grew apart and divorced. Jackie became a single mom. In 1969, Jackie married Earl Day. Michael and Katherine became her stepchildren and Robert became her second born. Dede has called Earl "Dad" to this day. As a family, they had many good times and loved to camp at the Kern River. The couple was married for eight years. Jackie and Anthony Lienau began their relationship in 1980, but they knew each other since high school. They spent twenty years together and married in 1996. She gained Adam and Tony as her stepsons and they enjoyed a very fun family. Throughout the years, Jackie and Dede were very close, but they also fought like cats and dogs. They got better as they aged, but they could always laugh together, most of the time at someone else's expense. They loved to go to concerts together and that was truly one of Jackie's favorite activities. They really had a good time together. Robert was always Jackie's baby. Her favorite time with Robert was a special trip the two of them took to Hawaii. They had a wonderful vacation. As a grandmother, Jackie was known as "Amma" to her grandchildren. Jordan came up with that name because he was unable to pronounce Grandma. Professionally, Jackie was a graphic color cut and paste up artist. She was creative. She worked at Lienett and then Trend. Jackie retired from Trend due to computers taking over her job. Thanksgiving was the big family holiday. When Dede got married, Jackie told Dede's husband that Thanksgiving would always be hers. She enjoyed having the family over and always cooked an incredible meal. She was an all-around great cook. Vaughn Dickson was always over for dinner. She'd say, "Double the order, VDs coming for dinner." For fun, Jackie enjoyed bowling. There were a lot of Trend bowling leagues and she was always there with her bowling ball. She was also on a women's league with her friends. Jackie had several close friends. Beth Stone and Judy Telep were her partners in crime. They enjoyed skiing trips every year together. Snow skiing was Jackie's true passion. Her favorite family vacation would be the trip from hell to Florida. The family rented an island off the Keys and anything and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. But the family made the best of it and still laughs about that trip today. Another favorite would be the motor home trips. She began to think that she was a professional truck driver. Her true love would have been her Big Bear house. Many good family times were spent there and best friend trips. One of her favorite memories would be the surprise Christmas morning with all of the family. She got to watch the grandkids open their Santa presents. One of her favorite drives up the mountain was that Christmas Eve. The music was playing and the car was singing all in tune and she knew the surprise was waiting. She also had a special trip to Europe with her father. They went to Germany together and saw where they were from. A trip of a lifetime... Jackie's favorite years would have been her 30s and 40s, when she lived in The Villa Park house. That was her dream house. She loved to entertain in that house and she knew how to throw a great party. She had New Year's Eve parties, Halloween parties and all the holidays there. The backyard was amazing and there were so many Sunday afternoons with great barbeques and family time. The pool was a place for all to come and have a great day. Ramus Fiz's were served and just a great afternoon of good food, music and memories. Over the last ten years, Jackie's favorite restaurant was Patty's restaurant. She loved the entire menu. Her favorite drinks varied throughout her life: Pepsi, Diet 7-Up, Drambui on the rocks, Franjelico, Ramus Fiz's, and all good wine. Jackie had a lot of favorite music. Rod Stewart is probably her all time favorite singer. She saw him in concert ten times. She swears he knew her by first name. At one of the concerts, she was in the front row. From all the dancing and leaning up against the stage, she rubbed off some of the material from her outfit. Beth was her partner in crime that night. And, her favorite color was purple, while her favorite flowers were the beautiful Lilacs. Jackie's laugh was contagious with a bit of wickedness to it. She loved to laugh and, of course, she always had the last laugh. She was so full of wit. She could make a room bust out laughing. Jackie was close to all of her sisters. She enjoyed making jewelry with Sharon and loved to cook Thanksgiving dinner with Dixie. She spent a lot of time with Terry, watching movies and talking with her the last couple months of her life. Throughout her life, Jackie said "I love you" a lot. Whenever she was on the phone with her children or grandchildren, the phone call always ended with "I love you," "I love you, too." She never ended a conversation on the phone without saying "I love you." Her daughter, Dede, visited her for a week while she was at Hospice. The last song Jackie sang at Hospice was "You make me feel like a natural woman." Dede told her mother goodbye and twelve hours later, she passed away peacefully. Jackie believed in God and heaven. Her family feels they will be reunited one day. Her wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered at sea. Her family is honoring her wishes. Jackie is loved and remembered by her daughter Dede; son Robert; stepchildren Michael and Katherine, Adam and Tony; grandchildren Jordan and Jackie, Kyle and Savannah; step-grandchildren Brittany and Stephen; siblings Sharon, Dixie, and Terry; and her best friends Beth and Morna. Memorial donations are welcome in Jackie's name to Breast Cancer Angels breastcancerangels.org. May she rest in peace... |
