Robert Donald Andrews was born in Port Jefferson, New York, to Joanne and Donald Andrews. He was a special middle child for the Andrews family, born between Laura and Steven. Quickly, the family called him "Bobby." He grew up by the water in Long Island as his father was a commercial fisherman. He always looked up to his father, learning so much about life. Both of his parents had a great influence on Bob, affecting the way he would treat people. As a child, he played sports such as baseball and ice hockey. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees and as a child he collected baseball cards. He also lived, ate and breathed the NY Rangers. He was active in ice hockey, playing as goalie. After a hockey accident, Bob rebounded to a quick recovery because he showed a spirit of strength in his life. Bob graduated from Rocky Point High School in Long Island and went on to graduate with a Computer Science degree from the State University of New York College at Cortland in upstate New York. Bob always had a genuine interest in computers. He was a mathematical whiz because math came so easily to him. After college he took on computer programming work. His longest position, of 15 years, was with Precision Dynamics Corporation, where he worked his way up the ladder to Systems Manager. He loved his work and was very driven with each project, committing his time from the early morning hours to late at night. Bob was a teammate who made everybody around him a better person. He worked hard and was devoted to the company. He was also a great motivator. In his free time, he enjoyed life by going on trips to Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, and driving up the California Coast to Monterey and Morro Bay, and played golf. He told his family that looking out over the ocean made him feel close to God, bringing him a peaceful feeling. Bob loved fishing, reading, and sports. He managed The Victory Baseball League. He led the team to win the league championship which was played at Dodger Stadium. He was so proud that his father watched and shared the win. Bob loved the Yankees so much, he even had the team emblem painted on the bottom of his swimming pool. Bob had many loves in life including classic rock music such as The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and George Thorogood. He really liked the song "Knocking on Heaven's Door," by Bob Dylan. Bob was very demonstrative with others, never leaving someone without letting them know how much he cared about them. He loved his niece Kristine and nephew Michael very much and had special relationships with both of them. Bob Andrews will be remembered as competitive, loyal, compassionate, and especially trustworthy. Bob was the one guy you could share your secrets with in life. His last act on earth was to help someone else in the form of tissue donation. Memorial donations are welcome in his name to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, where Bob was actively involved as a board volunteer for several years.
