Virginia Anderson was born in 1954, to Eleanor and Jessie Anderson in St. Louis, Missouri. Virginia was the second born child following her older brother, Gary. Soon, four sisters joined them: Kim, Jessie, Glenda and Brenda. The entire Anderson family was very close knit as Virginia grew up in the same home with her cousins. Everyone in the family helped at her grandmother’s soul food restaurant. Virginia held deep beliefs in God and heaven as the family attended church regularly and enjoyed gospel music. Virginia taught Brenda how to read all the big words in the Bible when she was little. At home, the girls sang songs together, harmonizing with their voices. Virginia and Sugar loved singing duets. Virginia always loved listening to music and singing. As a child, she also liked reading science fiction stories and books. She had a wonderful sense of humor as there was a lot of laughter in the Anderson home. In caring for her younger sisters, Virginia liked caring for others and dreamed of becoming a nurse one day. Her dream came true and for more than two decades, she worked as a nurse caring for many patients over the years. In 1976, Virginia moved to Los Angeles with her daughter, Larece, as she continued working as a nurse. Through a friend, she met Bill Trimble. It was love at first sight as Bill called Virginia "Red." She especially liked his voice, which sounded like Barry White. They had fun going dancing or to parties or simply spending time together. Virginia and Bill married in 1978. The couple was so happy to welcome their son, William, into the world, who proudly became mama’s boy. They nicknamed little William "Boo" and their family was complete. As a mom, Virginia was loving and nurturing, while also being very strict about education and doing the right thing. She was spicy at times, unafraid to share her opinion, but she welcomed neighborhood kids like Cornelius into her home with unconditional love. Cornelius called her "Mama" because in many ways she was a mom to everyone. She was proud when William became a wide receiver on the Fairfax High School football team. She made a point to hug the kids and always said "I love you." The family enjoyed going to Venice Beach, where Virginia liked the sand and played with the kids in the water, jumping waves. Family was always the best thing in her life. Virginia loved holidays and cooked large meals for every major celebration. For Thanksgiving, she made ham, turkey, stuffing, greens and pies. For Christmas, she put up a Christmas tree every year and baked a big meal. For New Year’s Eve, she’d make chitlins, as was tradition in the Trimble home. Virginia was also famous for her macaroni and cheese, which was made from a secret recipe she wouldn’t share with anyone. She was a great cook who spoiled her family with delicious food. Her favorite foods were ham hocks, greens, puddings and hot water bread. One of her hobbies was interior design and she created a beautiful home. She also enjoyed watching Unsolved Mysteries or Home and Garden HGTV with William. As she loved science fiction and horror movies, her favorite films were The Big Shield and Silence of the Lambs. Music always filled the house from Gospel to Rhythm & Blues. Her favorite singers included Anita Baker, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, and Corinne Bailey Rae. Her favorite songs were: We Are Family, Midnight Train to Georgia, Unchained Melody and Like a Star. With her grandchildren, Virginia was known as Granny while Bill was known as Pop-pop. She loved reading and playing with her grandchildren and showered them with hugs, kisses and love. She enjoyed the birth of each and every grandchild and was excited with baby Michael on the way. She also developed a perfect relationship with her daughter-in-law, Ebony. As she created scrapbooks of family pictures, there are decades of memories that bring so many smiles. The family will miss everything about Virginia. Bill misses his best friend. Larece loves her mom and will miss her. William misses his special connection with his mom and her comforting presence. Gary misses her charm and remembers the wonderful letters she wrote to him while he served in the Marines. Kim misses their unique relationship and all of those special moments when they talked and shared conversations on the front porch or back porch, in the morning or at night. She remembers Virginia always told her, "Heaven must be missing an angel because I got you right here." Sugar misses Virginia’s beautiful heart as family was everything. Glenda misses her sense of humor, her ability to share the truth, her willingness to help others learn, her love for God and unconditional love for family. Virginia loved everyone no matter what they said or did and no matter their nationality or race. Brenda misses her sister who was also her friend as Virginia’s giving spirit was inborn. She is grateful to have her sweet writings found in a notebook. Virginia will be remembered for her good advice, positive spirit, her laughter, her love for God and her ability to give so much love to others in her life. Virginia’s advice would be to make the most of every day and be kind to your family. Her legacy as a devoted mother will live on through her family, children and grandchildren. The family senses a calm as Virginia is at peace, safe with her mom again as she was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor. She is remembered by her father Jessie Anderson; husband Bill Trimble; daughter Larece and her husband Curtis DuBois; son William Trimble and his wife Ebony; grandchildren Tasha Lee, Chyna Alexis, Justin, baby William and baby Michael; brother Gary "Scooter" Anderson and his fiancé Lisa Haynes; sister Kim and her husband Walter Mason; sister Jessie "Sugar" Thomas; sister Glenda and her husband Willie Pruitt; sister Brenda and her husband Mitchell Thomas; nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. Virginia’s comforting smile will be remembered for decades to come… |
